Performance
In the BMW X3, the standard 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine offers plenty of muscle, though a 3.0-liter M-Series version is available for those who want a little more. The X5 and X7, meanwhile, largely share the same engine options. In the base configuration, that means a 3.0-liter V6 that, with some assistance from an electric motor, offers 375 horsepower. However, that can be upgraded to a massive M-Series 4.4-liter V8 turbo engine that tops out at 523 horsepower and 553 LB-FT of torque, and the X5 also offers a full plug-in hybrid variant that sits in between the other two options. Despite all of that power, both the X5 and the X7 still manage respectable efficiency numbers compared to the smaller X3. Have something to tow? All three vehicles can help, to a point. However, if you would like to haul anything with more heft than a small camper or some recreational equipment, it will probably be better to opt for the X5 or the X7, which can each handle a large fishing boat or even a trailer for one or two horses.
Interior Space
Perhaps the most obvious, and substantial, differences between the BMW X3, X5, and X7 can be found inside the cabin. The X7, for starters, is the only model of the three with a third seating row, meaning that it has room for up to seven people, instead of the five seats of the other two. Of course, if you need more cargo space, folding down the seats yields a whopping 90.4 cubic feet of cargo space in the X7, well above and beyond the X3 (67.1 cubic feet) and X5 (72.3 cubic feet). That’s not to say that you’ll feel cramped in an X3; in fact, it offers more front-row legroom than the other two and measures up comparably on the other passenger space figures.

Some things are mandatory in a BMW, and that prominently includes a dazzling array of technology, including the standard 14.9-inch BMW Curved Display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility on all models, ensuring you stay connected with ease.
