From the moment you start up a BMW 5 Series, it’s immediately clear that you’re in control of an elite sport sedan, one that has perfected a combination of power and handling that will make you want to drive for fun. The 530i boasts a turbocharged 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, facilitating 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, more than enough to get up to 60 MPH in less than six seconds. Things only pick up from there, including in the 540i, which generates 375 HP, and the 550e, which tops out at 483 HP thanks to its electric motor supporting its inline-six. Beyond those spine-tingling capabilities, the BMW 5 Series offers xDrive all-wheel drive as standard on the 540i and 550e, and as an option on the 530i. Other features, like steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and stainless steel foot pedals, offer the sort of precision that makes the 5 Series unique among sedans of its size and capability.
