Overview
The 2008 BMW M6 is available in coupe and convertible versions, offers a combination of comfort, luxury, performance, and ease of operation that is hard to beat. The competitors of the M6 include the Jaguar XKR, Cadillac XLR-V, and Aston Martin V-8 Vantage.
Powertrain and Performance
The M6 shares the same 5.0-liter V-10 engine as the M5, allowing it to sprint to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. A seven speed sequential manual transmission controls the M6's horsepower. It has a powertrain warranty of 48 months or 50,000 miles. A climate control is standard on all models.
Body and Styling
The 2008 M6 has a new headlight design and new LED turn signals. The other changes include a modified front air dam with large secondary intake openings that provide additional engine-cooling air. The side sills are aerodynamically contoured. The forged aluminum 19-inch wheels were developed specifically for the M6. It has seating facilities for four persons. The roof is made of carbon fiber for a very good power to weight ratio. The M6 cabin has M sport front seats and twin contoured rear seats separated by a cushion providing opulent comfort.
Safety Aspects
For 2008, the BMW M6 safety features remain largely unchanged from 2007. The standard safety features include traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags (coupe), a rollover protection system (convertible), and front and rear parking sensors.
