The all-wheel drive vehicle is equipped with a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine that delivers 223 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels, as well as a 170-horsepower electric motor to power the rear ones. The result? A total of 393 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque combined from both the front and rear wheels.

What's more, the BMW i8 is able to travel from 0-60 in just 4.9 seconds, and it achieves a top speed of 155 miles per hour... Not exactly your everyday Hybrid, if you ask us.

Of course, there's still the matter of fuel economy. The BMW i8 plug-in sports car can travel a total of twenty miles on electricity alone. After that, the vehicle engages in hybrid mode. When drawing power from both the battery and gasoline, the BMW i8 carries a rating of 104.2 on the European test cycle.

What make all of these numbers so impressive is the fact that BMW says they're production numbers. In other words, don't expect them to change much between now and the vehicle's release.
