BMW Teams With Japanese Automaker to Develop New Car Battery

Teaming up seems to be the big trend for BMW these days. The German automaker recently unveiled a partnership with South Korean automaker, Hyundai, and now they're teaming with Japanese auto giant, Toyota. Both partnerships represent ventures into different technologies, though both are pure genius in terms of their stipulations and eventual outcomes.

We here at Germain BMW of Naples previously reported on the deal between BMW and the Italicized H, but what does this new deal with the Cylindrical T involve? In short: Batteries. A more detailed look at the deal, however, reveals both the swapping of old technologies and the creation of new ones.

More specifically, while BMW is planning to give the Japanese automaker its diesel technology to use in European models, the makers of the Prius are giving BMW insight into their award-winning hybrid system. From there, the two automakers will go on to develop a new lithium-ion battery to be used in both hybrids and to power other electrical components, which both companies will make use of.

Sounds like a win-win for both entities, right? That's because it is. And similar to how Beamer's other deal is working out, they're choosing to team with a company that isn't a direct rival, as they're competing in very different segments.

Excited to see where this partnership goes? So is everyone here at 11286 Tamiami Trl N Naples, FL 34110-1622. Of course, if you're simply interested in the new BMW models that we carry, then feel free to contact us online or by phone at (866) 366-2180 to learn more.
